Vixen Porta Mount II

Sturdy Grab and Go lightweight mount.

The Porta II is a solid altimazimuth mount with a 10kg payload capacity and features Slow Motion Flexible Handles to minimize vibrations and keep your view sharp. This is very useful in searching and tracking celestial objects. The mount head is easily removed to allow for a switch to a heavier tripod.  In addition, this is a great mount for terrestrial viewing. With no locks or clutches, our gear drives make it a simple matter to precisely track a planet or a ship on the horizon by turning the elevation and or azimuth control handles. The “World-Standard” dovetail attachment system on PORTA was developed by Vixen. This allows the PORTA to accept various dovetail mounted optical tubes and binoculars. The tripod adjusts from 35.4 in to 51.2 in.

Skypod Mount

The controller is integrated into the mount. You can take it off for remote control, but you can always put it back for safe storage and transport. This means that for transport you can avoid all the separate small parts that are otherwise easily lost. Because the Skypod it is based on Vixen's flexible mounting system, a wide variety of telescopes will easily and quickly attach to this mount. Skypod provides good portability combined with ease of use and versatility.

The latest option for the GP2 mount is the new STARBOOK S which incorporates Vixen’s legendary GOTO controller with BUILT IN STAR CHART that shows you exactly where the telescope is pointing and displays “what’s up” right now.

The included (and upgradeable) software contains a 22,000 object database giving the user an endless variety of objects to view. Included are drop down menus of different categories of celestial objects, including Stars, Planets, Messier, NGC and other famous objects. Each sub menu only lists the objects that are available to be viewed at that time. This eliminates the frustration of other GOTO systems that don’t tell you the object is below the horizon until after you have selected it. With the Vixen Starbook you will spend more time viewing and less time searching. The package includes advanced encoded motors for accurate tracking and an auto-guider port and PEC (periodic error correction) are standard features.  All of this makes the GP2 with STARBOOK S the most affordable, quality astro-photographer’s mount available.

Vixen Sphinx SXW Mount with Star Book & Tripod

The Vixen SXW or 'Sphinx' mount and Star Book hand controller work beautifully together. The mount has the usual solid high-class fit and finish typical of Vixen products and through clever design is surprisingly portable.

The ATLUX Mount is a midsized Go-To equatorial mount that incorporates the STAR BOOK Hand Controller. The mount is designed and manufactured to offer the best slewing and tracking performance in an easily transportable package.

The counterweight shaft is retractable for transport and storage. With a maximum load capacity of 34kgs, the Atlux is ideal as a solid platform for long exposure astrophotography. Accuracy, smooth & quiet operation and an sleek design make the Atlux attractive.

GAIAX Mount

The VIXEN GAIAX MOUNT is a heavy duty equatorial mount with a load capacity of 44kgs. Designed with high precision zinc bronze 216 teeth worm gears, this mount can carry large aperture telescopes. The Gaiax Mount is controlled by the Skysensor 2000 containing a database of over 22,000 objects. With superb Go-To accuracy this mount is ideal for the discerning astronomer with a permanent observatory in mind.

The SkySensor 2000 achieves highly accurate "Go-To" pointing and tracking of celestial objects.  The SkySensor 2000 is autoguider compatible and it also provides programmable "Periodic Error Correction" circuitry to improve tracking, this is particularly beneficial for astrographic applications.
